Buyers are responsible for paying any associated shipping costs for orders that use Grailed Labels. This cost will appear as a separate line item at checkout when using the “Purchase” option or when submitting a binding offer. Shipping costs may vary depending on the shipping address provided at checkout.
Who is in charge of paying for international duties and taxes?
International shipments may be subject to duties and taxes depending on the item being shipped and the countries of the sending and receiving parties. Payment for all duties and taxes are the responsibility of the buyer or receiving party at the time of delivery. For an estimate on the import duties you may be subject to as a buyer, please visit https://www.freightos.com/freight-resources/import-duty-calculator/ for more information.
If the seller has over-valued your purchase in the customs declaration (i.e. set the value of the item as a higher amount than you purchased it for) and you are required to pay the difference to release the parcel, you should contact the seller to have them resolve the issue before deciding to accept or refuse the package. If you accept the package, you may not be eligible for reimbursement for the higher cost.
US State Sales Tax
Grailed is required by law to collect state sales tax in US states (including Washington, D.C.) but excluding Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire and Oregon.
As a buyer, you may see sales tax applied to your purchases depending on where you live in the US. The sales tax will automatically be applied during checkout, and then paid to that specific state’s government. Grailed will handle all processing, so whether you’re a buyer or a seller, there’s nothing you need to do differently.
It's important to note that this is not a Grailed fee, but rather a law mandated by certain states within the US. Grailed does not profit from this tax and has no say in how much is charged.
I’m not located in the US. Does this affect me?
If you’re a buyer located outside of the US, you will not be charged US state sales tax on purchases made from a US based seller. However, you may still be charged a VAT/GST or similar tax depending on where you live. Check our article on International Taxes on Transaction for more information.
